Keep Garbage Where it Belongs
Mice, raccoons, cats, rats, and other creatures who may be rabid easily eat or claw through trash bags and strew garbage everywhere. Trash bags are easy to rip open. Raccoons, nocturnal animals, are now here in the daytime because they know our garbage is easy pickings. No one wants the neighborhood to look like a garbage dump!
Some options to help keep trash from being dispersed by animals are:
TIP: If you need containers for extra recycling, put it in garbage bags and label them, Tie together large stacks of cardboard to keep them from blowing all over.

Picnic!
Join us for a picnic in the traffic circle this summer, date TBA. Sign up with Pam, Karyn or Lori to supply a dish, barbecue equipment, or paper goods. This is a great family event and a chance to get to know your neighbors.
ParkingBe sure Julie has up-to-date information on your cars. Towing is enforced after 6 p.m. for cars parked without stickers/hang tags, inoperable cars, or cars with hangtags parked more than a week. If a car is parked in your reserved spot you can call Dominion Towing at 703-339-2400. We are getting clarification on the ownership of the parking spaces on the service road. We will update you when we have a definitive answer.
Snow Removal
During large snowstorms the traffic circle and the four Permit Required spaces around the corner from 4528 will be designated “snow dump sites.” For large storms of more than a few inches, move your cars from these spaces. Additionally, guest parking will be limited or prohibited during especially large storms. Blade Runners has been asked to use these spots and to reverse the plow direction to move snow onto the traffic circle vs. behind the cars. As much as possible, snow will be shoved up and down the inclines near the traffic circle and 4528 vs. on the parking surface. Enjoy the snow-free months! Be neighborly during snowstorms: share information on people who will shovel for a fee, and help your less able-bodied neighbors with shoveling.

Raccoons, nocturnal animals, are now here in the daytime because they know our garbage is easy pickings. No one wants the neighborhood to look like a garbage dump!
Some options to help keep trash from being dispersed by animals are:
- Use a garbage can with a lid, available in several sizes from Home Depot, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and Sears, among others.
- Use contractor or heavy-duty garbage bags
- Double-bag lighter trash bags in heavier contractor or garbage bags or in garbage can
- Wait until morning. Putting your garbage bags out the night before as this gives nocturnal animals 8+ hours to get into your garbage.
- You can also spray bags with ammonia (Windex) or vinegar to deter critters. This is especially important if your garbage contains food scraps.
TIP: If you need containers for extra recycling, put it in garbage bags and label them, Tie together large stacks of cardboard to keep them from blowing all over.
