Board of Directors
Upcoming Annual Meeting
The 2016 Annual Meeting is fast approaching. Please join us!
The meeting is a good opportunity to get an update on the past year in Little River Mews, meet your neighbors, ask questions of the Board, and make suggestions for improvements. It’s also a great way to start to get involved in the community. We will have two open spots on the Board to fill at the meeting, so if you’re interested in being a member, please make sure you attend to get your name on the ballot.
Home Inspections
Last year the Board completed its semi-annual inspection of homes in the community. Most homeowners are doing a great job keeping their homes in good repair, and most promptly took care of the problems. Homeowners who did not complete the repairs were sent follow-up letters. If you are one of those homeowners, please take care of the repair work as soon as possible.
Please refer to the Architectural Guidelines found on our website when making exterior modifications.
The Blizzard
We survived! The snow was beautiful while it was falling, and picturesque after three feet had accumulated. Even shoveling snow gave us a chance to meet our neighbors. Let’s keep that community spirit alive!
Looking Forward to Spring (it will get here….eventually)
Now’s the time to start thinking about how to spruce up your yard. The nicer our community looks, the more we all like living here and the more our homes are worth! Think about a gardening get-together with your neighbors to share the work (and heavy lifting!).
The Board will be hosting a community picnic this year, and would welcome suggestions or assistance from any residents that would like to be in on the planning. Further details to follow!
Please let us know if you have any other community-building ideas.
Garbage Pickup and Recycling
We noticed there was confusion about whether trash would be collected the Monday after the snowfall. The best thing is to assume it will not be collected when there is severe inclement weather. We’ll do our best to keep the latest information on our website: LittleRiverMews.org. You can also visit American Disposal Services (ADS) website directly at AmericanDisposal.com, or call 703-368-0500. As a reminder, please put out your garbage only the night before or the morning of trash pick-up days. Garbage collections are Mondays and Thursdays, with recycling only on Thursdays. Collection times are often quite early, so ADS requests that trash and recycling be put out by 6:00 a.m. on collection days.
Also, if your trash is still out when you get home, chances are you put it out too late. Kindly bring the bags/can back to your house. Recycling is often seen circulating in the air on windy days, only to land on your neighbors’ lawns or in the storm drain. Please put boxes in plastic bags, break them down, or place them under something heavy.
Parking
Julie Elkins at 4511 handles parking. Please see her for parking stickers and guest passes.
1) Please make sure your car is drivable. If you have a flat tire, you can’t drive it, so neither can you keep it parked here.
2) You need a valid sticker associated with your current car.
3) Guests need to have a hang tag. Guest passes are not to be used for more than seven days, so, if your guests will be here longer, please ask Julie for an interim guest pass.
Communication with the Board
The Board welcomes input from the community! Please contact our management company with your suggestions, problems and concerns at [email protected]. The phone number is: 703-941-9002. Northern Virginia management will notify us, and the Board will do our best to address your concerns as soon as possible.
Thanks and happy spring from the Board!(Julie, Karyn, Kristin, and Meredith)
